A legally valid medical certificate in India must be:

1. Issued by a licensed registered medical practitioner (MBBS or higher, registered with the National Medical Commission or the relevant State Medical Council).
2. Based on an actual clinical examination.
3. Signed in original ink and stamped with the practitioner's official clinic or hospital seal.

Submitting a draft template generated by MedPatra to HR, schools, government agencies, insurance companies, or any third party as if it were a real medical certificate may constitute forgery and use of a forged document under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.
